Here is one of the pair of tables I posted some days ago whilst still underway. I'm happy to report that they're done. The tables are matched, but for now, will go in different places in my home.

Very nicely done, Ken. Aside fom the overall shape, I like the shelf and tone of the wood. Nice.
Take care, Mike

Great tables Ken! How is the shelf attached to the legs?

Took about a month of spare time. Can't estimate hours, as I don't keep track. Lots.
I didn't make the lamp, but I sure do like it. I designed the table to complement it.
The shelf has breadboard ends. Each end has a tenon let into a 1/2" square mortise in each leg. That way as the shelf moves across its grain, it won't damage the legs. The breadboards are only pinned and glued in the middle.
Thanks for your comments and questions.

Great looking tables Ken. Better keep Leo away from those.

Isn't custom stuff cool! It's all about deciding what you want for what you need, then making it.

Or however you put quotes in the message. That didn't look like others I've seen.

Hi, Ken
That table is outstanding! Was it made from an available plan or is it your own design?

Hi George,
I found a photo in an old Home Furniture magazine, and it had a brief description of the breadboard ended shelf with M & T joinery. I made a full scale drawing and adapted it to suit our needs. The original had partway turned legs, but I prefer the tapered squares.
