If you remember, I roughed out a bunch of NE bowls and such from some wood I got from the local Shinto Shrine, well, I took a stab at finishing some today, to take to Canada with me..........

Not the best pics, sorry, but I'm pressed for time.

Turned out OK, I guess, just a basic wax finish, buffed.

Sure is fussy work getting into the bottom of these smaller bowls, even with the 3/8" bowl gouge:doh:

The first pic has a Zippo lighter in it to give you some scale.

Cheers!

Stu are those the same kind of wood? The one on the right sure has some nice figure in it. Are you going to need an extra suitcase for all the gifts? I'm sure everyone will love them!

Stu, I like your little bowls and I like turning little bowls. For that reason I have two 1/4" bowl gouges. One has a standard swept back Irish grind/side grind. The second has a much shorter standard grind which I have shortened even more by grinding a second bevel on so you can turn inside small bowls.

Try it, you'll like it.:D

Thanks guys!

Mike, I can sure see where the 1/4" gouges would come in handy, and the double bevel, well, I've been advocating that since Eli Avisera showed that to our group here nearly two years ago, it really does work!

Cheers!
