Do you own a JET mortiser?
If so do you have some Genuine Jet Mortising chisels?

If you do I would appreciate if you would measure something for me.

I am looking for a set of Chisels for my old Wysong Mortiser and looks like the Jets would work but they don't give the dimensions I need.

As far as I can remember the mounting shafts on mortise bits are a standard size between brands.

I finally got an answer to what I needed. Just ordered a set that should work.

That's one nice piece of iron! I've got a Powermatic mortiser, but it pales compared to yours.

Thanks Lee, it's been cobbled on a bit. It was originally a line shaft machine and someone welded on a motor mount with no tension adjustment. But to my amazement it works just fine as is. Besides that I don't have much more in it than most of these bench top models sale for.

Wonderful when you get lucky enough to find one that is usable and have the price right, to boot. I also love the old gear and how it was made to outlast most of the newer products out there. It also looks like that ought to weigh enough to stay in place rather than dance across the floor.

There is little bit of cast iron in this one. I will go ahead and post the other photos for it. I really don't know what it weights. I would guess 200-300 lbas maybe? I can move it around the shop with a good pneumatic tired hand truck if I am really careful.
