Here are two spalted oak bowls. The wood sat in my shop for over two years before I put it on the lathe, and it was dry enough to turn start to finish.
This one is about 8" x 4". A knot blew out while turning it. Maybe the hole should increase its value, eh?
...and this one is about 9.5" x 4". It had a crack which I could not turn away, so I filled it with CA/coffee grounds.
Finish is a BLO-DO-poly sequence; Beall buffed.
Comments welcome.
