New Logo

The new logo looks great, but... I would shrink it down a little. Takes up a lot of real estate at the top of the screen--and I run at pretty high resolution. Maybe its no more than the old logo but for whatever reason its more noticeable, I think because of all the whitespace next to it.

Matt, it's the same size as the previous one, but I do intend to take care of the extra whitespace. Out of curiosity, which color theme are you using? I'm using "woody" and the white is not too noticeable. I do see in the default blue theme that the white box is more noticeable.

vaugh i think it looks big on the top becasue its all alone up there:) we could put something to balance it out on the other side and it would look better perhaps:)
I guess before we did that, one of us Admins would have to figure out how to actually add something to the header. :p

Then once we have that handled, I'm thinkin' Viagra ads.

I am using woody. The whitespace is a little less noticable on this monitor than my shop's PC where I first noticed it. This one tends to run some colors together.

I agree with the comment in the original post: looks great but 'looks' big: even if it is the same size as before. I think it's because the former logo was more subdues, whereas this on is bold and bright.

My suggestions, which you should take with a pinch of salt, or simply ignore :D, would be to shrink and move the yellow text at the bottom up under the main Woodworking text, and reduce the size of the red capsule in the y axis.

Vaughn - congrats for winning BTW! :thumb:

Larry, are you using a different computer? I had to do a shift-F5 to get the new logo on this computer. It was still using the old logo out of the cache.

Gari, I'll see if I can get some time to play around with your suggestions. Might be something workable. (I'm using a cheap software program called Logo Design Studio, and some of the capabilities are pretty limited. I'll have to see if I can stretch or shrink the oval on a single axis.)

Let me know if you need help, have a copy of photoshop, can take a look if you'd like.

Thanks Darren. I've got PS, so I can stretch the whole thing. What I want to do is stretch only the oval layer. The logo software I have can't do it, so I'll have to make the changes to the oval alone in PS, then go from there.
