that gantry crane looks like a good idea. That's quite a shop you're assembling.
Then I mounted it to a flip top base that I built. I have the Ridgid spindle/belt sander on the opposite side.

I almost choked on my lunch , I built the exact same flip top stand for my planer and mortiser! However, I like the way you are keeping the top from rotating - the wood stops. I used a couple of barrel bolts and have never been really happy with them. mind if I steal your idea?
