So I'm walking several blocks away from my van this afternoon... Taking photos for work when I see three gents picking up twigs from recently felling a small tree. I walk on by...

then I go back and ask if I can have a piece or two of wood...

A couple of minutes later I'm walking with these on my hips...

I think I'm done for. To top it off, I asked for a lathe chuck for Christmas.

The vortex is strong in this one.

Looks like your new wood might have some nice stuff inside. Get it sealed up so it doesn't crack any more than it has. ;)

going to turn some bowls this weekend while it is still fresh... I bet I got to them about half an hour after it was cut.

He shoots (pictures), he scores (wood) !:thumb: You have great opportunity to obtain fresh wood the way you travel so much. I'll bet that Sprinter can carry a lot of turning stock.:D
