    new dovetailed box

For a friend's 60th birthday. He gave me some walnut a few years ago. The top is bookmatched spalted maple.

Finish so far is just BLO, to be followed by some coats of shellac. Couldn't wait to post it.

The bottom is a raised panel.

    Dimensions are 8 3/8" x 4" x 1 3/4"

    Beautiful Ken, nice work.

I wonder what he's gonna put in it... cigars maybe?

Very nice, Ken. I'll bet your friend will be very pleased with what became of his wood.

    Nice job!

    Ken,
Thanks for posting this. Nice job on the dovetails! I'm impressed!

This also gives me the incentive to make some boxes of my own. I have some spalted maple that I milled last year and it would be perfect for a lid like yours.
    See ya around,
    Dominic
