Found the fww King Heiple plans online yesterday, and decided to make one today. I'm about halfway through at the moment, most of the parts are cut and the 'hardware' is on hand (several t nuts and thumb screws). Pics later tonight.
Dang, that's pretty cool - i once made one of wood, too - when i was using my belt sander. It worked okay but had a little flex on my longer tools. Then I went for this:
Fired up the ts a lot tonight... and other than thin ripping, I like my new rockler featherboard.
Just mocked up there, the base is complete, and the rails, but only one tnut is installed and I still have to mount it at 4" from the platform, as well as swap the tnut for one which has 'teeth' (managed to buy the ones without) but since my grinder currenly only has one wheel, It isn't a critical need. I also need to recut the v-block. My initial cut was more than a little off.
That looks like it should work fine. Next, I'd suggest finding a plans for a Varigrind clone...it'll make getting the Ellsworth-style grind much easier.
