Gas Tension Springs

I'm looking for a source for gas tension springs (the reverse of the gas struts used on cars) for the fold down doors on the sideboard and wine server designs I'm working on. Does anyone have any sources for that sort of thing? Thanks.

Thanks Rob. You'll get there, I'm sure.

It's not the hinges I'm worried about--I'll probably end up with leaf hinges instead of knife hinges. Or maybe continuous hinges. I'm for interested in supporting the doors so they don't go beyond 90° and so that they don't fall down uncontrollably.

I've got a drop down door like that on the top portion of a computer hutch but it's made to hinge all the way down out of the way. Just for holding it closed, this type of catch works really well

I'm wondering about some fine brass chain or wire through brass eyes and weighted at the ends for stopping the travel. I have a hunch anything gas operated you can find isn't going to look good on a piece of fine furniture.

Sorry Dave I took one look and selected the link. Wrong thing. This is what I meant. I also see they have them at Rockler.

I agree with the post that said the gas struts would interfere with your design. A nice bit of shining brass is what I would use.

See this link for the valley.
