Been a long time since I've posted a HF. Here's a new piece.

Amboyna burl HF. 3-5/8" x 1-7/8", finished with SAC and buffified.

Great Job Neal! The contrast of the heart and sapwood is beautiful. :thumb:

I guess the temps are down enough for the first of 3 seasons of woodturning! :p

Hey Neal...that bowl is a definite striving point for me. I've always loved Amboyna. I'm limited to pens and stoppers out of it now, but your HF is a big goal for me. Thanks for the post

Thanks Dan. I can't say I did anything special. This was sanded to 800 and allowed to sit for a couple or three days, after which I applied a single but liberal coat of Seal-A-Cell (inside and out) and let it cure for another three days.

This was my first Amboyna bowl blank so I wasn't sure what to expect with the oil-based finish. It was dry but still slightly tacky to the touch.

I then simply buffed it with all three compounds.

Neal,

That is a beautiful HF. Wonderful piece of wood with great execution. What more can you ask for?? What type of hollowing system are you using?

Regards,
