I entered my first turning show this weekend and was suprised with my return to the show Sunday. I won first place with the bud vase I made my wife and first place with the cube on the bias.

The biggest surprise was not only did I win Best of Division for woodturning with my monkey puzzle, but I also won Best of Woodworking (which included: intarsia, marquetry, scroll work, woodburning and woodturning.). I also get to buy some new tools as this wash a cash prize award!!

I definitely think I will be getting the Thompson gouges for christmas since my mom was very excited and kept asking hinting questions about what I needed to continue with this hobby.

Yahooooo!!!:D:D

Outstanding !

Congratulation Keith, great job. Keep up the good work and who knows where you will end up.

And yeah, go for the Thompsons-great tools.

Very Well Done! :thumb: That finish on the monkey puzzle bowl looks like glass.
Thank you all for the great compliments!!

Jeff, I am really glad I decided to buy a Beall buff system. I wet sanded the 10 coats of poly with 1500 grit then ran through the tripoli, white diamond, and carnuba. What a huge difference in the finished surface!
