Toni, I really do not know of you "Need" a 1" blade, that is fairly thick and the tension on your bandsaw would have to be set very high to work well, I think you would be better off with a 3/4" blade, they work very well for resawing, fewer teeth and more set to the teeth, make it easier on your saw motor, but give a rougher cut, I think the blade you guys were talking about, the "wood slicer" or something would be better for the veneer resaw you want to do.
While you are at it, a couple of other blades would not cost you any more for shipping, so I would recommend that you pic at least one or two more blades, something for cutting curves.
On the import tax thing, like I said above, if the blades are sent without packaging from the maker, just the blade, folded up, in a box, and it is marked as used goods, low value and as a "gift" you chances of paying import taxes go way down........... or at least that is the way it works here.....
