Walnut winged bowl from a small crotch. The limb growing out the side had been cut or broke off at some time and the tree grew back around it. It's about 12" corner to corner, 2.5" tall, the bark was gone the second I turned the lathe on. Oil and lacquer finish.

Curt,

I see your transporter accidentally re-materialized a bowl into that flat piece of wood.

Seriously, really nice piece.

So...still got all your knuckles? :p

That's a sweet bowl, Curt. Great wood, and I really like the bowl you found in it.

i am not one of you spinny folk but there are some of the pieces you guys or gals come up with that knock on my forehead.. this one of them.. stus's comment od the shotgun effect of the bark leavun makes that piece all the more impressive.. nice use of some good lookin walnut.. i have to much of that stuff and want to get some of it out my shop ,, just cant do yet.. good job curt:thumb:

I wish I could add something classey and inspirational. Since everyone already said all that stuff, I'll just quote Rush..."Ditto to all"

Amazing execution to bring such beauty out of a piece of wood.
I love the finish, it just makes me want to pick it up and touch it.
