Anyone got a Hartville Tool catalog?- correction highland wwing

I can't find the one I had a month or so ago, they had a Scorp similar to the one listed here

    http://www.hiltonhandcraft.com/woodt...ccessories.asp

IIRC it was about $18 vs $30 for the homemade one there. I'm looking for the item # from the catalog (it isn't listed on their site. that I could find)

I'll keep looking for my copy, but would appreciate it if anyone has a copy handy and can locate the number. Thanks for checking!

I just went through Hartville's Master Catalogs for 2006-2007 (twice) and 2007-2008. I found no sign of a scorp ... mini or otherwise.

Sorry about that. Are you sure it wasn't a different vendor?

EDIT: My 2007/2008 Lee Valley & Veritas catalog shows a "Hook Knife" for $19.50. Item number 01D20.01 ... could that be it?

    Hi,

I didn't scope the Scorp either. I checked my catalogs. Give them a free call at 1-800-345-2396. You might get what you want. At worst you waste 5 minutes on the phone.

    Lots of Luck and Enjoy,

    Jim

I just ran across a smaller Hartville catalog in my stacks ; the Holiday 2008 one.

    No scorps in there, either.

I know I have a catalog of some kind with scorps. I'll scope for scorps for you later today.

I really thought it was them. *sigh* thanks for looking! especially twice, Kerry.

the LOML was asking for a christmas hint for the boys... something they could afford. I'll keep looking.

That's what I would have come up with.
The Swiss scorp is surprisingly reasonable. Many are in the $100.00 range.

Ned, what do you anticipate they will be using it for?
Some, maybe many, carvers use horse hoof knives for interior type cuts. e.g. spoons and such.
These can be purchased for under $10.00. I found one that is double bladed, can be used left or right handed for only $6.95.
I have a large spoon gouge I have never used. But, it was pretty expensive and I keep it around just in case I ever need it.

    Frank,
speaking of spoons, I have a spoon 'plane' from woodcraft, but I'd like a better method of forming the bowl of the spoon, so I was looking for a better mousetrap. I'll check around for a hoof knife.

I found it, in Highland Woodworking, any of the three would probably do, but I'm ordering the bottom one tonight.
