This a maple bowl that was rough turned by Chris Wright before he got rid of his big lathe. He gave it to me with a batch of other turning blanks. It's about 14" x 5", and I left it pretty thick and heavy...I wanted it to be a usable bowl that didn't slide off the table when someone is tossing the salad. It's finished with mineral oil and Howard Feed-N-Wax (lemon oil, beeswax, and carnauba wax). I pretty much kept the form Chris started, and burned the chamfered part of the rim a bit just to highlight it a little. I finished this one a few weeks ago, but finally got a chance to photograph it and post the description.
