Spalted Maple Bowl

Well did get some turning done other than bottle stoppers, birdhouses, ornaments, etc. I turned this spalted maple bowl. It had some start of splating in the blank so bagged it up with some wet chips and kept changing the chips as they dried. I decided I couldn't wait any more so put it on the lathe and it sure turned out pretty nice I think. It is 9 1/2" X 3 3/4". Finished with one coat of Seal-A-Cell and 3 coats of Arm-R-Seal then buffed.

Not sure what happened to my previous post here. Matters not, I still love this bowl. I have the Arm-R-Seal, but haven't used it yet. I plan to put it on the pieces I have on the finishing table now. Wonderful work.

Bernie,
That's a great piece... my first glance I thought it was an artsy piece with holes, then realized you had a shine on on it. I've got a bunch of spalted maple, some of which is getting past the spalted stage on me real fast.... I need to get something to harden the wood so I can turn it.
