    Maple Burl

Just a small vessel from a chunk of burl... 4-1/2" wide and 3" tall.

Now that is the size HF I like to turn because I don't have to use any special equipment. Of course I don't turn hollow forms so the point is irrelevant.

But if I did I sure would like to turn one as pretty as this one. Very lovely, Mark.

Did you edge all the natural edge surfaces with black dye or something or did you burn them? Either way it must have been tedious.
I may be getting a little older physically but mentally I'm still tarp as a shack.

Mark that is a beauty. I really like the wood and form.

The edges of the void was just touch-burned... enough to give it color, but not change the texture.

I used lacquer on this one and rubbed it out to a satin finish.

    Thanks everyone!

Ya nailed another one, Mark. All of it, including the photo, is spotless.

Glad to see you tried burning the rim for something different.
