Digitalizing My Planer

A while back I bought a DeWalt DW735 planer to replace my Ridgid planer. I had the Wixey WR500 on the Ridgid and wanted to install it on the DeWalt. The Wixey solution is to use foam tape to attach the unit to the analog scale. I didn't like that idea so much so I went at it a little differently.

I asked a machinist friend to make a replacement for the analog scale bracket. He went above and beyond by making it out of stainless steel and adding slots so the Wixey bracket can be easily adjusted for the height of the bed. He even buffed it up so it looks nice. It works perfectly and will be easy to reverse if I ever sell this planer and want to keep the DRO.

Here are a few pictures.

As with the original, there's little clearance behind the bracket. On the original they crowned it a little. This bracket is flat. I used 10-32x1/4 machine screws and oval nuts to attach the WR500 to the new bracket.
