    Joe Fisher's Segment Calculator

I just spotted this over on woodnet. Joe Fisher posted a link to his website, where he has a Java segment/stave calculator Plug in the diameter and thickness of each piece and it gives you the angle to cut at as well as inner and outer lengths

    Ned,

Now, that's cool! And it doesn't cost 40 bucks, or take a week to learn!

I've already got it bookmarked. Just in case some day (like, in 2012) I can actually get back to my lathe...

    Thanks,

    Bill

you're most welcome guys. I doubt I'll get to turn one anytime soon, but I want to try someday, at least a couple of them.

You're welcome Incidentally, I wrote it because I wanted to calculate the dimensions I'd need to do staves for a drum shell.

I was quite amused to see my name in a thread title. The first thing I thought was, "Uh oh, what did I do now?"

There's an experimental version you can see here that uses the Adobe SVG package to draw the segments in real time. It works natively in Firefox, but may require a plugin in IE.

    I'd love to hear any feedback/feature requests/etc.
