thats a very nice looking use for burl chuck,, bet that took awhile to get smooth.. no wonder kalea didnt like sanding ,,you probally made her sand the burl to get it that smooth:) nice job chuck

How did you cut the slots for the keys? And then how did you trim the keys to match the rest of the box? Maybe in addition to learning from my mistakes with the keyed miter joint I can also learn from another's success. :)

Hey Chuck,
Great looking box, I really like making them. This in one I made for my wife's birthday last month. It's made from Bocote it's 11x6x2½.

Chuck, thanks for the answer. I think part of why my setup slot was over-kerf is that my miters aren't perfect and despite multiple passes on a friend's drum sander the carcass has a tiny, not visible, rock to it. Live and learn.
