    Maple Emerging Bowl

A 7" Maple Bowl, finished with the Beall Buffing System. This is the first bowl I turned using a glued-in-place waste block. I used wood glue and a piece of paper bag. It snapped off nicely and only required minor clean up.

Sorry about that a 'bit out of focus' side view.

"Interesting" is a good choice of words Frank; and I agree. Try as I may I couldn't keep this from looking like a flying saucer. At first I had the top curved to meet where the edge of the center bowl is, but that was too much. I may put it back on the lathe and under-cut the lower half of the bottom. Funny thing is I have thinner blanks, I should have used this style on one of them.

The finish is what the Beall system can do, amazing finishes from that system. I started (and ended) sanding at 400 grit, the sharp skew (used as a scraper) gave me a nice starting point.
