E. C. Atkins & Co. Indianapolis???

Atkins made a fine saw. I have found the metal to be a bit harder than the Disston line, which I am inferring from the way that they file, but Mike W would know more than me on this sort of thing.

I don't know near as much about hand saws as I would like but I do know that name. At $10 (and considering your location) I would buy it.

There were several Disstons and a lot of junk in lot at the auction I went too. I figured they went for $20 or less but I didn't want to have to deal with all the junk, so I didn't wait on them Sort of wish I had too.

Mike doesn't know much more than you, Alan...

The steel in that Atkins is arguably harder than the corresponding Disston. I like them. The sharpen up nicely and that one looks to be in good shape.

I personally wouldn't go higher than $20 for any saw unless there is collectability, so set a top price you are willing to go and if you get it, as long as it is in as nice of shape as it appears, you'll have a good handsaw.

Take care, Mike
