walnut vase

All mine are still hiding. Glad you found yours!! Very nice piece Dan. Is the interior tapered to match or a straight shaft? :thumb::wave:

is it english or black walnut? i have some black walnut but have not tried to turn it yet. i am chicken a guess. i done a couple of aparcot i got at the same time, came out real fine. every one i talked to around here said black walnut is real hard and heavy so i have been chicken to start one before i get more better at turning.

the sides are tapered to the bottom of the incline. its a keeper. not sure what type of walnut it is, all i know is when i go browsing, if something catches my eye, i'll buy it, not knowing until later, what it will be.

Ralph, look at the peppermill I turned a while back http://familywoodworking.org/forums/showthread.php?t=12918&highlight=peppermill and http://familywoodworking.org/forums/showthread.php?t=12562&highlight=pepper+mill. The first is black walnut and the second small one is english walnut. Both were dry as a bone and turned/finished very well.
