    Table Coasters

My wife asked me to make some of them.
They are made of Tzalam wood,
I used poly and wax for finishing.

Nice work Alfredo, are you using a duplicator or just good eye hand coordination??

    Thanks Wayne and Royall.
    I dont have a duplicator.
I used to make the same progress
at the work piece and mount and dismount
    them several times.
I just finished 26 legs for six stools I am making
and I used the same technique.
    Maybe I need a duplicator.

    Regards

I would say you have a pretty good duplicator in your eye.. those are fantastic.

Great looking coasters. I just ordered some cork to make some. Well done.

Those are the classiest coasters I have ever seen. Very elegant.

Alfredo - nice coasters. Seems funny that something so handsome is used to protect something else.

How do you mount the cork inside the turning?

    Ken,
I made cork circles using a carving gouge.
I used glue for the mounting.
These table coasters were made following a
picture of the magazine Woodturning Design,
    winter 2008.
    http://www.woodturningdesign.com/issues/winter08.shtml
I believe in this magazine is written the correct way
to make these costers. If someone could send me a
copy of this article I will really appreciate.
I am happy with them and also my wife
    and this is what counts.
    Best regards
