Here are some pictures of the first set of cabinets I already finished that go with the cabinets that you see in my shop tour. The veneer is mappa burl with gloss black trim. The drawer slides are soft close along with the door hinges. The finish is puritain pine with cherry gel stain appliedover top, then sealed and another coat of puritain applied over top with 3 coats of satin lacquer. I staill have to make the black trim for the glass doors.

It doesn't say in the product description, just that it is an economical alternitive to contact cement. The glue is made by titebond.

Mappa burl phase II

Here is an update on the fireplace cabinets. I included a picture of the drawings I was given to work off of. The areas colored green will be painted gloss black. This is just the cabinets above the mantle and I will probably start the lower cabinets tomorrow:thumb:.3-14-09 001.JPG

I would of liked to stain and finish them before I assembled them, but the weather for the past week hasn't cooperated with me :(.

I still have quite a bit of trim to paint black and another cabinet behind these yet to stain. I think I need a bigger shop:rofl:.

Thanks Allen:wave:. You inspired me to try a chair after following your post. When I clear this project out I want to try one like Norm built on the new yankee workshop. Its a corner chair and includes some lathe work to build it:).

Im looking foward to that thread also.Dont forget to post pics all along the way.

norm? yeah, ive copied some of his stuff..............................................................................

like the plaid shirt I once saw him wearing.

Glad to see you got the picture resizing worked out. The cabinets are looking great, Alan. Man, the finish sure popped the grain on that burl, huh?

Really great and inspirational work Alan. Wow I find I am speechless when I see work like this.:D:thumb:

Did you but the colums or did you turn them yourself? ( Added later after revisiting your shop tour.......OKay I found the answer by your lathe. How about a tutorial on how you made those colums. I like them:D)

I just love the overhang and all the moulding building up the top.

Thanks for updating this post. I watch in awe.

Are these cabinets for yourself or for a customer?
