Just wondering if anyone had any tutorials on turning a sphere or an egg? Just thought it might be fun to go and turn a few eggs.

I don't really have the foggiest idea of how to start to turn one and have both ends turn out smooth.

If there's enough interest, would there be be time to maybe organize a contest like we did for the snowmen?

Raffan covers it in his book Taunton's Complete Guide to Turning. The tutorial on the IAP site is good, but. It makes a simple process overly complex IMHO. You do not have to make a chuck or 5 templates. Turn a cylindar between centers, put on a tenon and chuck it up. Turn an egg and part it off. Use a real egg for a model if you like. Use egg making as skew practise.

Hutch did this one a while back. I'm to scared to turn something that my kids can throw at me :rofl:
