Considering a new lathe

Anyone have any thoughts on the new Nova lathe that is currently being featured at Woodcraft? Might be interesting with a 16in swing and expandible bed.

I'm very happy with my Nova DVR 3000, if I were now looking for a lathe, and I did not have the Nova DVR 3000, the new Nova 1624 would be high on my list.

That said, if I had the money, I'd own a Vicmarc VL 300 :D

I think Bruce Shiverdecker just ordered one..........

-> Here <- is his thread about it.

New Nova 1624-44 lathe

One other lathe that I'd be looking hard at is the new one by General Maxi 25-200 looks like it might be a winner, really depends on how much you want to spend I guess...

Then there is the Rikon 70-500, it looks good too.........

I very much envy you for the choices you have!!

Cheers!

Well, As I posted in "MY BOSS IS BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD"

I am going to own one by the end of the month. I work part time at WOODCRAFT AND LITERALLY FELL IN LOVE.

That 16" swing becomes 24" when you rotate the head 90 degrees. 210 rpm as the lowest speed is perfect. Gettin' a G3 doesn't hurt either.
