I meant to post this several days ago and forgot.

Here's a piece from a Birch tree root that I scored a while back. The form was pretty much dictated by the amount of solid wood that there was. It's about 7" at the wings. Turned start to finish and allowed to dry. You can see where the drying warped the wings a bit. Just a coat of BLO for a finish.

It's a neat piece, and I'm sure it was a challenge to turn. The form doesn't send me the way a lot of your other pieces have, but I turn some myself that strike me similarly. ;)
 
I love the color of the wood Mark :thumb:. The form looks like a nightmare and you pulled it off well. I don't know why, but it looks like it would be a great coffee mug...that's just the way the form strikes me. But a dried arrangement would look really cool too :wave:
