Here is one of the pair of tables I posted some days ago whilst still underway. I'm happy to report that they're done. The tables are matched, but for now, will go in different places in my home.
Took about a month of spare time. Can't estimate hours, as I don't keep track. Lots.
I didn't make the lamp, but I sure do like it. I designed the table to complement it.
The shelf has breadboard ends. Each end has a tenon let into a 1/2" square mortise in each leg. That way as the shelf moves across its grain, it won't damage the legs. The breadboards are only pinned and glued in the middle.
I found a photo in an old Home Furniture magazine, and it had a brief description of the breadboard ended shelf with M & T joinery. I made a full scale drawing and adapted it to suit our needs. The original had partway turned legs, but I prefer the tapered squares.
