Hi all,

Last week I started a thread for some Ideas on a workshop (thanks for all the response to that as it helped a lot).

I actually got started on wednesday or thursday of last week by moving in some equipment and getting the pad ready. 3 days ago on monday, my form guy stopped by and cut the footings and built the forms. On Tuesday, I roughed in teh plumbing (got inspection), Termite spray and certification, Form guy came back and laid the vapor barrier and tied the steel tuesday night. Wednesday, I got the foundation inspection and brought in a pump truck and started the concrete pours around Noon. 29 yards of concrete, two tired concrete finishers, 18 pack of beer and 7 hours later I had a slick foundation. No pics of the concrete as It was too late last night. I will take some tomorrow.

I will post updates as it progresses. Rainy outlook for the next week, so it may slow me down.

Regards and many thanks,

David Graves

:thumb: You lucky devil you. So have you planed your first "New Shop" project?

You bet, I just finished a 6 month long renovation in the home. (changed everyhting except the paint on the ceiling).

My first project will be a cold beer or 12. :D

On a serious note, I do not really know if I want any projects soon after finishing this, I want to take a break for a couple months and spend some time away.

Will keep you posted.

Regards,

EXCITING! I envy you guys that have a big enough lot to build a dedicated shop building.

Thanks , but I personally view it as very small (about 3/4 acre total. I grew up on a farm of just over 700 acres. I would love to go back there and build, but it is just not going to happen with my work.

I have a little "get away" place that keeps me satisfied for now a few miles outside of town where I keep my horses and may build there one day if cant find something a little larger.

Ok,

got a couple more pics, sorry for delay but I have been out of town a lot.

We poured the slab on Wednesday May 20 and started framing on Memorial day. Three days later, it had a roof with shingles on it.

Right now, I got to get the electrical, plumbing and HVAC roughed in for my next inspection so I can start the Brick.

I will get more pics of its current state this afternoon or tomorrow.

Really draggin' your feet on this, huh? :p

That's great progress, and I'm looking forward to see the rest as it develops. That slab looks like it ain't going anywhere. :thumb:

It should not, footings are deep and wide. Not less than 6" anywhere. took 29 yards of concrete.

That's a lot of mud, but what really caught my eye was the generous amount of steel in the slab, as well as the healthy grade beams spanning it. Looking real good.

Small update on progress

Ok guys,

Here are a few pics I took recently. I will take more over the weekend of the current progress. Brick was finished yesterday.:D

Regards,

What are the actual dimensions ?

Looking really good....

Actual dimensions are 25'-10" x 36'-0". I know its a odd dimension, but its the way my form guy wound up after the dirt pad was in place. I told him to ignore the plan and get what he could with the depth of it. The plan called for 24'x36'.
