    Box Elder Burl NE Bowl

Here's how the bowl from this thread came out. Final dimensions are about 9" across by 5" tall, with 3/8" walls. Finished with a couple coats of Formby's Tung Oil Finish that was rubbed out with white Scotch Brite between coats, lightly dry sanded with 600 grit, the buffed with tripoli and Renaissance Wax.

That is spectacular to be sure!

It reminds me of one of those stop motion pics of a drop of water.....

    ....... only in wood

    I'd call it "Splash"

That is a beautiful piece of wood Vaughn and an equally beautiful use of it.. stunning.

I found a whole tree of box elder laying in a wood pile and not a burl piece on the whole thing.
