I ordered two of the Hitachi WH14DAF2 impact drivers for $99 each, reconditioned from . Recon Sales They came via FedEx in a very timely manner, and everything looked great. I went to use one today, and I found that there is something wrong with the anvil, that is the part that your insert the driver bit into.

Here is the inside of the good tool.....

.... you can see that is is clear to the bottom of the hole and you can also just make out the ball bearing that retains the bit in the anvil.

Here is the problem tool, you can see that something is busted off in there, or that the inside of the anvil was never formed correctly from the begining.

I sent Recon Sales these pics, along with this e-mail.....

Hi, I recently bought two Hitachi WH14DAF2 14.4V Cordless Impact Drivers
from you. They came in good time, I'm impressed with the quick service.

One of the impact drivers has a problem with the part of the tool that
the driver bit goes into, I believe it is called the "Anvil". The part
was either not correctly formed at the factory, or it has a bit of
broken off driver stuck in it.

I've NOT used the tool at all, only took it out of the case to look at
it. The driver bit would not stay in the tool, so I took a closer look
at it.

I've attached four pictures;

driver

The next three pictures are of the inside of the anvil of the problem
tool, I know it is hard to see, but the hole does not go very deep.
It looks like there is something stuck in there. Also there is no ball
bearing that would hold the driver bit in the anvil.

The last picture is the name plate on the problem tool.

What can be done?

If I may suggest a solution, can I take the anvil out of the drill and
send it to you? If you find it is defective, can you then send me a
replacement part? It would not have to be a new part, just a functioning
one.

I'm open to suggestions.

Thank you very much.

I just wanted to post an update, Recon Sales sent me my replacement impact driver, it is in great shape. While they sent me a defective one to start with, I understand in business, things happen, they recovered nicely and took care of my problem without any hassle, quickly.

I will be dealing with then again in the future.
