Spalted pecan

This is just a quick shot of a bowl i made today. It will be going on a trip to manchester Tn with my 20 year old.He is going to the Bonaroo concert up there this weekend and wanted to take some of the stuff i built. He hopes he'll be able to made a little extra money as he don't have much extra to bring with him.O well i guess this will be his woodstock.:D
The other pics are of some of the wood the neighbor gave me yesterday. It is the pecan and some peach. I'll get it cut up this weekend.;)

No fair! You show us the bowl but you don't tell us anything about it. Looks great regardless. But, I really would like to know more about the bowl and the wood that its made of. The peach and pecan should really make for some nice work too.

well from what i could see from these pics is he works close to the pan.. kinda like cut it and the turn it.. like from fresh from the smaker to the fryun pan:) there was one of them spinny things in the back ground from where he was showun the cuttin block:D

Larry your right as i was just wanting to see what this wood would look like. I ruffed turned it then put it in the wifes microwave on and off for about 3 hours. As this wood had been sitting out for over 3 years and was spalted it dryed out pretty quick.
It's 7"x2 3/4 I had know idea that my son would want to take it, but let him have it just becouse.I told him it might crack or at least warp but he still wanted it.:dunno:

Manchester TN. ---- Spent some time at Sewanee (University of the South)
near Manchester.

It will be beautiful there now....

That a fine-looking bowl, Steve. I've only turned one piece of pecan (it was spalted, too), and I really liked the stuff.
