tenon... isn't that just a section of a board trimmed to fit into a mortise? right? why couldn't you just fire up the RAS with dado stack since that's one job the RAS is very good at... and simply remove the stock you need from each side of the tenon? as for cutting the shoulders.. you have a bandsaw don't you?

or, come use my tenoning jig (well, ok, let me Use my tenoning jig for you...)

tearout how? cross grain, dado stack... cutting a rabbet (technically)... you're going to make me go out tomorrow and try it aren't you... he he he.

mark, here is my take on the joinery for your design, i also included an exploded version. hope this helps.

Thanks Dan - this is kinda what I was thinking, except for the front top corner joints - hadn't quite figured those out. I'll play with this later.
