    sanding edges and ends

Everyone probably already has a set of sanding blocks like these, but this is what I did tonight. These are for controlled sanding of ends and edges with minimal risk of rounding over the sharp corner.

I used a piece of 1 1/2" aluminum. On a 3/4" thick board, the ends and edges will support half of the sanding block surface, making the block less prone to tip over and round off the edge or end than a bigger sanding block. The rigid aluminum will also maintain flatness.

Those should be handy. How did you stick the sandpaper onto the aluminum? I've typically just wrapped the paper around a block of scrap wood when I wanted to keep the edge flat. (More often than not I just hit it with the ROS and call it good.)

I used some of the PSA backed Carborundum paper that came in my Bush Oil kit.

Just used these today on my small walnut desk. They work really good. Very easy to keep good control, especially if you remember not to use too much pressure.
