Food for thought

I just looked at a desk for an insurance company who shipped it here from out west. Nice desk made of oak [new] solid wood with 3 pocket panels in the front and 2 on each side. The problem is in the finishing. Everything is done right except the finishing process. The panels were installed and then finished. When you have pocket panels you finish them before you instill them into the frames this way when the wood shrinks you will not see unfinished wood as I did with this dark walnut toned desk. I've seen this allot and it is one of my pet PV's that gets under my shin to complain about when I come across this poor planing and execution. Kind of like putting veneered press wood in the dash of a RR. Cutting corners never end well and waist everyones time.

Thanks for letting me vent.
