This is my first ever pen, first real turning too.
It's spalted beech, i scanned the pen on my
scanner because i keep forgetting to charge
my camera batteries.
I also used the pen press i won on the forum,
it's great to use, thanks Joe.

Looking good. :thumb: And, amazingly, you avoided the first pen temptation to make it with a lot of bulgies and curves. 90% of first Slims are monstrosities like that.
And, you should never-ever admit you made a picture with your scanner. Let them think you are a pretty good photographer. ;)

Kevin, you did a real nice job on that pen. Hope to see more in the future.
I am a photographer and even I am impressed with the quality of the scan. I never even thought of trying that. Great!

Tom

Thanks everyone for the comments. :thumb:
I just learned about the scanner trick last
week on another forum (begins with W and ends in T):rofl:
It is the first time i've used the lathe in over a year
and even then i was only able to practise for a few day's
until my health problems put paid to it. :(,
i recently had a pain killing injection in my spine
which worked great for 3 day's now i'm back to normal
so no more turning now until i've had surgery.
There is one good thing about the situation though
i get to continue learning off you good folk by reading
all the posts on the forum. :D
