    Strange computer problem

Lately, when using Microsoft Word, I cannot use the 'save as' feature. It is not disabled, but when I click on it nothing happens. No menu opens. I have lost two documents recently because I could not save them. And, documents will not close when I click 'yes' to the "do you want to save changes?" question.

Hmmm, dunno. Did you try restarting the computer? With windows it's amazing how many problems that will clear up.

Many, many times. This is a weeks old problem. I may have to restore to a few months back but would prefer finding some option that may have glitched and change that.

Why don't you just uninstall Word & reinstall it ?

I tried repairing using the CD I have but got a message saying what was on my computer is a newer version than the CD and it wouldn't do it.

I know it's a lot of information to wade through, but have you tried the online database at microsoft.com?

Not sure I have ever used that. I have gone to the help forums but the self-proclaimed 'experts' there have never been helpful. Usually they digress from the problem at hand. I'll look for the database.

Sounds like you have a registry problem, been infected, just as I was a while back, nasty grimlin. My buddy fixed it for mebut it wasn't easy as I infected him when he plugged my HD into his cleaner machine. Have to use the Safe mode to run cleaner operations, etc.
