Chuck,
No those were organic yellow split peas. They make a pretty cool pen. I will make some other stuff this time. I will make a couple of batches.

I made a pen from that yellow split pea blank Alan...it turned very well and took a thin CA finish even better. As with all our dealings...a great blank to work with!!!

My parents taught me to respect my elders, but it's getting harder and harder to find any.
If you go looking for trouble, it will usually find you.
Can anyone help me how to download pitchures and how do I put a photo next to my name ?!
Thanks
Al

Chuck, that does look very nice. What I find on my blanks cast from food stuffs is that the CA will shrink more. I do the CA and then do a rough sanding about 600 and let them sit for about a week. Then finish wet sand with mineral spirits to 2000 and then polish with Novus Plastic Polish #2. That generally gives you a very level finish and high gloss. Something else is I always seal the ends with thin CA.
