Pen Swap Lap II

Chuck,

No those were organic yellow split peas. They make a pretty cool pen. I will make some other stuff this time. I will make a couple of batches.

I made a pen from that yellow split pea blank Alan...it turned very well and took a thin CA finish even better. As with all our dealings...a great blank to work with!!!

Chuck, that does look very nice. What I find on my blanks cast from food stuffs is that the CA will shrink more. I do the CA and then do a rough sanding about 600 and let them sit for about a week. Then finish wet sand with mineral spirits to 2000 and then polish with Novus Plastic Polish #2. That generally gives you a very level finish and high gloss. Something else is I always seal the ends with thin CA.

I talked to Ned yesterday and he's been a bit over whelmed by year end activities. He is doing a stint at the VA and will bump the box out the door after that. Merry Christmas everyone!
