Simple answer, most of us turn what we want to not what we have to.
I'll second or third this... I turn because it's fun and I enjoy seeing what comes out of the wood... I don't like to and usually will decline most custom orders simply because I don't want to HAVE to make some like a particular form... I think the wood will dictate it's own form and we just remove what isn't in the plan. My turning is my retirement activity... I'll sell a few pieces, but don't really want to turn it into a business... that's working again.
