with my shaper's motor hanging inside of, and well below the flanges that held it to the base, i have found that it would be right awkward to use now that it is off of it's base, and would sit at an angle on the bench. so i decided to make a platform for it to sit on. i measured the inside dimensions of the flanges (that's the other side of the out side larry :D), and the distance of the motor beyond the bottom of the table. the platform was easy enough to make, as 2x6's on end, with a 3/4" plywood base gives more than enough clearance for the motor. i cut notches in the framework for the power cord and the on/off switch. it's not pretty, but it's functional.
