    Help fettling a Stanley 48

Anybody have experience getting one of these to work accurately? That is, with a snug T&G and flush faces.

I think I saw a fettle calibration guage in one of the boxes of stuff from the farm. My dad's dad was a carpenter and I have been going through the stuff the others didn't grab when he died back in the 40's.

    What is fettling?

Dale, I don't know about a gauge, but fettling is the word for fine tuning and adjusting a plane.

Sounds like a trial and error effort on some scrap. Once adjusted, DON'T TOUCH IT!
