Well I sure can't tell you what it is, but if it was a Rosewood, it would be fairly heavy, hard and a maybe a little toward the oily side, or at least all the rosewood I've seen was like that. Whatever it is though, it really has an interesting grain and should make a beauty of a project of some kind.
Interesting coloring on the oak, (may just be the picture), but the coloring looks like Red oak.

yes, there was alot of red oak mixed in. I put a piece in the picture.
