    Bleaching wood

Rennie's thread on building the church furniture and particularly Toni's carving of the dove got me curious about how to properly bleach wood. After doing some research I found this article by Jeff Jewitt on the web. For those not familiar with Jeff he owns Homestead Finishes and is very helpfull when anyone has questions regarding finishing. I hope other find this as helpful as I did.

    Good article. Thanks.
I have bleached Holly with success. The wood was quite yellow as opposed to the desired pure white. I put in a 20% solution of household bleach for 24 hours, rinsed and let dry. It worked.
