Nova Soft Jaws question

For those of you that have used the Nova Soft Jaws, what tool cuts them best? I mean besides a sharp one. :)
I got a set and cut a tenon on them for finishing the bottom of candle holders I make. They were a lot harder to cut smoothly than I'd expected. Anyone have a tip to make it easier? I'm thinking of getting another set while Woodcraft has them on sale this month.

Tim, I've got a set but so far haven't done any cutting on them. From what I've read on other forums, pretty much any turning tool should work (although I don't know about scrapers), but it does need to be very sharp.
