    sprue knocker

Was casting some lead rifle balls yesterday and couldn't find my old knocker for hitting the sprue cut-off on the moulds. So, nice thing about having tools, I grabbed a crookedy hunk of Osage Orange branch from my pile and made this. All of fifteen minutes turning time in it. Quick coat of wipe on lacquer and I got me a new sprue knocker.

Careful Frank.... as hard as Osage Orange gets, you'll wind up bashing dents in your molds...

My parents taught me to respect my elders, but it's getting harder and harder to find any.
