For Chuck Ellis

Chuck got out in the shop today, and made another angel.Well i brought out the camera with me so i could document the way i do it.If i knew how to put this in the text i would but:dunno:. well first i put a piece of wood on and turn between centers. Next i'll turn a foot to fit in my chuck, rough turn the angel. Now i'll finish turning to desired shape. Sand and then part off the body.Next i'll find the center of the piece still on the lathe, draw a line to keep my holes parallel to each other. Drill two holes then start turning the wings. After that it's just a mater of fitting my dowel that i left on the wings to fit the hole i predrilled in the body.Ofcourse sand and finish to your desired finish. Hope this helped and here are the pics in order(i hope)
Steve

That's pretty cool... I think I understand how it's done... don't know when I'll get to try one... I'm about 3 weeks behind getting ready for my December shows... forutunately, since I had to cancel the October shows, I'll have a little extra inventory.
Should be able to get back in the shop next week... did a little today, but still kinda shaky to run the lathe.

Great job. I am courious, did you drill the holes ion the "wings" before you turned out the "Wings"? Forrestner Bit? Drill Press?
