    Irwin QG Bench Holddowns

    Every now and then one of you folks will mention something in passing that is so obvious I am inspired to place the heel of my hand to my forehead and utter . . . DOH!

    Just in case this is one of those . . . for you who have these clamps and dog holes (it works vice-versa too):

    Did you mod the QG so you could get it in the dog hole?

    No, they are made so that the 'fixed' head comes off and can be reversed for use as a spreader. These are the 12" clamps. My 6" heads do not come off and I am unsure of the bar size on larger QG clamps but, the 12" work fine. You don't get the control of a screw-type as shown in the second pic but for general grabbing, not bad.
